BioIndustry Association responds to the publication of the United Kingdom Internal Market Bill

Steve Bates OBE, Chief Executive of the BioIndustry Association said: “The BIA welcomes the commitment in the Bill to preserve the UK internal market, aimed at providing certainty for businesses to work and trade freely across the whole of the UK. However, the Bill fails to provide the detail or clarity on medicine regulation and supply in Northern Ireland we have been seeking for many, many months. By seeking to put into law clauses that explicitly undermine the agreed Withdrawal Agreement, this Bill, as presented, reduces the chance of securing a deal and increases uncertainty around Britain’s future trading relationship with the European Union.”
